10 Month Old Baby

10 Month Old Baby

If you think that getting your partner to do what you want is difficult, you apparently have not tried with a 10 month old baby yet. By now, your little angel has developed his or her own will and making him or her to let go of your cell phone or jewelry for instance is everything but easy. You may feel that your 10 months old baby is deliberately making you mad, however, babies do not know how to do that. They simply develop their own point of view and openly show when they do not agree with you.

What To Expect:
At the age of 10 months, your baby is becoming increasingly independent and his or her exploration spirit will not decrease. By now, he or she should be able to sit confidently and crawl around your house with a “speed of light“. Your 10 months old baby is also getting closer to walking or perhaps even walks unassisted. However, some babies are late bloomers and there is no need to worry if your baby has not started pulling himself or herself into a standing position by holding onto furniture yet. Just because your friends’ babies already made their first steps that does not necessarily makes them any smarter. Let your baby decide on his or her own when it is time to try the walking thing. Your baby’s personality will become more apparent by the age of 10 months. You may feel frustrated when seeing other babies trying to please their moms, while your baby always seems to do the opposite from what you want. Just like adults, babies have different temperament traits and there is nothing you can do to change that. Your baby is not making it hard for you intentionally and you have not done anything wrong. On the other hand, you will not necessarily have an easier job in child raising if your baby is an absolute angel, at least not in the long run. By now, your baby’s babbling probably turned into the so-called jargoning which, however, does not mean that it is making any more sense. The main mean of communication in 10 month-olds is pointing but at this age they begin to learn saying the actual words by repeating. For that reason it is crucial to talk to your baby often no matter how silly you may feel. Also, when your baby makes a sound and points out to an object be sure to correct him or her. For example, if you hear your baby saying “ba“ or “bau“ when pointing out to a ball, say “yes, this is a ball“ because your baby is very close to connecting words with meanings.

What You Need To Know:
As a result of increased independence, your baby is more likely to have accidents. It is impossible to prevent every fall but it is crucial to provide your baby a safe environment to practice his or her new physical skills. Now is also a good time to store away all your valuables for a longer period of time because babies tend to be particularly attracted by objects they should not be.
