Baby Shower Planning
By Jessica Rashiv on 11/29/2010 5:17 pm in Planning Pregnancy, Pregnancy
Baby shower planning is not as easy as it may seem at a first glance, especially if you are trying to arrange everything in the last minute. However, as its hostess it is your job to make it perfect for both the mom-to-be and her guests. And for that reason you should not leave anything to coincidence. Since you have a lot of work in front of you, you better start with baby shower planning a few weeks in advance and stick to your schedule. That way you will have enough time to plan everything to the slightest detail and relieve the stress on the eve of the party.
Here is an example of good baby shower planning you may find useful if you were asked to host a baby shower:
Eight weeks before
Get together with the mother of honor and ask her about her preferences concerning the guest list, location and theme/decoration. Also, do not forget to ask her about the budget.
Seven weeks before
Go through the guest list with the mom-to-be to make sure that you did not leave out anyone important. Also, go through baby shower gift registry if the two of you decided to create one.
Six weeks before
Choose the theme for the party and browse the web for decoration and food ideas that go well with the selected theme.
Five weeks before
Send out invitations to the guests and do not to forget to write the date and location of the baby shower. Also, add the RSVP so that you will know exactly how many people will come and how many reservations you have to make in case the shower will be held in a restaurant.
Four weeks before
Start making a list of people who will come and choose the menu for the shower with your guest of honor or/and restaurant chef.
Three weeks before
Buy a gift for baby shower because you probably will not have time later.
Two weeks before
Make reservations if you will held the shower in a restaurant but ask the restaurant to keep a table or two free in case if all invitees have not replied yet. Also, buy the decorations if you have not done that yet.
One week before
Start cleaning your house if the shower party will be held in your home because you will need longer than you think if you want to be thorough.
Three days before
Decorate your home and take care of the last details because it is nearly impossible not to forget something if you are doing it in the last minute.
One day before
Have your hair and nails done, and meet with your guest of honor one more time to let her know that you have everything under control.
Enjoy the party!
